This series of film self portraits was taken in the woods of Arkansas using an air shutter release and a 4x5 view camera. I wore the uniform I flew in, in Afghanistan. No longer in the military at the time, I looked back to my memories, remembered in a constant loop, to give me solace for the loss of purpose and a sense of self.
In the woods of Arkansas, alone creating self portraits, I often carried a gun in my belt. My identity as a veteran, and living in the South, often made me consider the historical relevance of my actions.
